Random late night casserole

Starch/carbs+veggies+protein+CHEESE

What I do:
Preheat oven to 400.
Set water to boil.
Cut a small potato into small cubes.
Cut mushrooms (and/or any other vegetables) into small, uneven chunks
Chop at least two garlic cloves
Salt boiling water and add two handfuls of (twisty) pasta
Butter small ovenware
Add potato cubes to cooking pasta OR mix with oil and put in oven in buttered ovenware
Cooked pasta+chopped veggies+garlic into same ovenware with potatoes
Salt and pepper well (sometimes I add some cayenne pepper)
Add shredded cheese and mix well
Back into oven for about 7 minutes
Add more shredded cheese to cover the top
Back into oven for about 5-7 minutes (until cheese is all melted on top)

And eat.

Sometimes, I just want some pasta

Cook preferred pasta in boiling, salted water to preferred firmness.

Olive oil or butter in pan. Saute half an onion (chopped) until soft. Add lots of chopped/minced garlic and continue to saute. Chop thick-sliced ham into chunks and add to onions and garlic…saute, saute, saute. I added frozen broccoli at this point and kept sauteing (add any raw vegetables before ham). Salt, pepper and spice.

Drain pasta and add to other ingredients. Turn down heat and let sit for 5-10 minutes, stirring until vegetables and ham are evenly-ish distributed. Taste. Salt, pepper and spice if needed.

Dish up. Grated Parmesan, optional. Wine, optional.
